This is how I make wire loop bead connectors when I want them snug against the bead. I use 21 gauge half hard wire.
These are the tools I use: a pair of bail-forming pliers and a flush cutter.
I first trim the end of the wire so it’s flat, not pointed. Then I make a loop on one end so it becomes a head pin. Then I thread this head pin through the bead.
I bend the straight wire over with my fingers as close to 90˚ as I can.
Next, I grab the end of the wire with the bail-forming pliers and coil it until it’s close to centered, but not quite.
I allow the wire to overlap.
Here’s a view from the other side. You can see it’s off center.
I remove the pliers and trim the wire so it’s flat, not pointed, as close as the flush cutters will allow. This leaves a fairly substantial gap.
I put the pliers back in the loop and roll the wire until the loop is centered. This closes the gap and it’s done.
The information you provide is always so useful and most importantly, easy to follow. I appreciate all your testing and information you share with the pc community.
